Dance-theater / hybrid

[ ] by Adrienne Westwood and Angélica Negrón

Target Margin Theater · Sunset Park, Brooklyn

Choreographer/director Adrienne Westwood and composer Angélica Negrón premiere a multilayered work for dance and interactive sound sculpture, combining live camera work and projection within a sonic environment that weaves personal and ancestral memory into a mirage-like space. Through sweat, breath, and shadow, the work physically reclaims the stories of invisible labor, asking: what is long ago, but still right now? Co-created over five years and brought to life by a cast of eight femme performers. The title is an act of physical resistance — announced through the body by framing one's head with deeply curved arms, or by speaking the phrase "the empty space between brackets." Choreography by Westwood, music by Negrón; performed and co-created by Rebecca Fitton, Solana Hoffman-Carter, Kathryn Nusa Logan, Amanda Kmett'Pendry, Katie Swords Thurman, Marissa Truitt, Sugar Vendil, and Laura Witsken. Follows a 2025 preview at ODC Theater in San Francisco. The Sunday 2pm performance has ASL interpretation and a post-show conversation with the artists. The sculpture is also open as an installation Saturday 4–6pm, with an all-ages interactive workshop Sunday at noon, both ticketed separately.
